She used to transport the maerle (?), the lime rich shell and sand mixture, from the coast to the inland farms, via the Aulne, and was so called because her draught was so shallow she could travel into the upper reaches of the river as if by magic. Not sure where she resides permanently, we saw her at Binic a few years ago.<br /><br />Off to the Bay of Morlaix next week, our regular stopping place at Kerbiriou on the eastern side, now with my copy of The Saints Shore Way, to help us further explore the area.Lucyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09764296105901909328noreply@blogger.com
