Just back
I've been in London for the last week with my closest friends and family. Saw this new addition (photo) whilst hanging about on Rennes station on the return journey today. Four different travellers sat down and played the piano during the half hour I waited on the concourse, and very good they were too. Jazz and classical both featured heavily. During this spontaneous entertainment, I was surprised to see the new form of an apparently routine security patrol doing the rounds of the station: a policewoman flanked by two soldiers - one male, one female - both carrying semi-automatic rifles. Oddly it made me feel less rather than more safe.

The pianos seem to be something that's taking off on railway stations; I lately did a post featuring one at the Gare du nord and someone in London said there was one at St Pancras too. Also saw the heavily armed security in Paris, a little surprised to hear of the same in Rennes, it is chilling to see.
Off to Finistère on Thursday, have your 'Things to see and do...' guide to help us along!
Hi Lucy
Thanks for that. Enjoy the Monts d'Arrée - the little guidebook is now available. If you're walking your dog on the moors, I'm the one with the border terrier...
It's ready already! No time to send off, can I get it locally? We're staying at the Troglogites, near Brasparts.
I'll leave one at the gites for you - pass there every day!
That's so kind! How can I pay for it? We're there from Thursday afternoon to Sunday morning.
Don't worry about that. I'm passing twice late afternoon Thursday and will try then and leave the book if you're out. Make sure you go to L'Autre Rive café/bookshop in the forest at Huelgoat. I think you'll like it...
Great, we should get there about 4. We went to Huelgoat the year before last for a day at Fauconnerie Bretagne, and briefly last year, but didn't make it to l'Autre Rive, though I do know about it. Molly's old now and not up to much walking, so we have to work it round her, but she still loves travelling, and is often happy to have a quick potter and a sniff then snooze in the car while we walk.
Looking forward to tomorrow!
OK, great. My ETA 5.10pm - hope to see you.
