Yes, I think the first is best too. The second does not conform to most people's idea of a canal (although it is one technically). This is the great glory of the Nantes-Brest canal, which is river based for 80% of its 360km length.

My favourite is the second one but I do agree that the first suits the title more.

I like the second one best because that is how the canal looks very near to where we are
